Why Feng Shui

Why Feng Shui

Ancient Wisdom providing Modern Solutions

Feng Shui is the art of assessing the qualities of Qi that exist in the environment to determine its potential and shortcomings. Good Feng Shui means an environment than can bring peace of mind, good health, strong relationships, long life, many descendants and of course wealth and prosperity.  Feng Shui is a valuable Asian cultural treasure that continues today  to have respect as an effective and essential tool that provides direction to build cities, palaces, residences, businesses, temples and gravesites.

The environment impacts and influences our well being and lives. The influences of Qi are governed by patterns that are calculable by formulae; therefore, it is possible to assess the potential of Qi for any location on any scale (city, neighborhoods, homes, businesses, rooms). Everything connects – nothing is irrelevant.

Feng Shui is the study of the connection between people, space and time. We are a society and people that lacks connection.  The ancient Chinese scholars observed the natural world for thousands of years, and came to understand her laws. Feng Shui understands how the human energy field interacts (for good or bad) with the surrounding environments. Feng Shui is based on observation, sound principles, logic and mathematical formulae. By understanding where you are in space and time, Feng Shui provides you with choice and tools to improve your life and achieve your goals. To the Chinese, luck is not a random event, luck is something you can cultivate; Feng Shui is used as a method of improving one’s opportunity.

Feng Shui always takes the person into the equation, seeing the environment and people as interconnected. Feng Shui is about connection. In the study of Chinese Metaphysics, the ancient sages believed human destiny and fate as a combination of primarily three factors; a cosmic trinity of heaven, earth and man.   Each of the elements of the Cosmic Trinity exert an influence equivalent to 33%. The energy and influences that you are born with are considered Heaven Energy. Heaven energy is also the influences of time. We cannot change time but we can learn to understand it and work with it. Earth energy is your environment and is analysed, described and manipulated through Feng Shui. Human energy is our actions, our aptitude and attitude, and in the end our individual choices. By knowing where you are (Earth) in time (Heaven), you (Man) can adjust.

The Interior Design Credo states the purpose of a designer is to “enhance the function and quality of spaces for the purpose of improving the quality of life, increasing productivity and protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public.” With Feng Shui, this credo is taken a step deeper, good design does not necessarily mean good Feng Shui. People and space have their own unique energy imprints. Feng Shui understands how design and location supports or destroys Qi and then its impact on people. Feng Shui offers a proactive way to bring ancient wisdom into our modern lives.

The cosmos is a sacred place, fundamentally interrelated and complete. Feng Shui is the study of the patterns of nature and the cosmos. Feng Shui expresses itself with alterations in the landscape of environment, seeking to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right person, doing the right thing.
